When I met Jen Araki at Neiman Marcus in 2015, we just clicked. We have a lot in common. Yes, we are both Canadian, however, from opposite ends of the country - she from British Columbia and I from Toronto. We are both creative and motivated individuals who encourage self-love, self-empowerment and co-creation. Once I learned the many talents of Jen (film maker/model/actress, child's rights activist), I decided to share my vision for Kaura Jewels.
Not long after we met, we decided to create a fashion campaign for the jewelry line with our dear friends Gurpinder Virdee and Daniele Batalles, and magically created the "Dream Team".
I must admit, it was an amazing experiencing pulling it all together. Our behind the scenes footage is creatively captured on the instagram handle @kaurajewelsmovingpictures. Our friend, Gordon Lee @gordonleedecor was sweet to offer his vacation home in Joshua Tree for our two-day shoot. Gordon is also the creative florist behind the goddess headdress Jen finds in the desert, in the film.
With renting dresses from Rent the Runway, to getting stuck in sandy ditches and hauling camera equipment up jagged boulders, we managed to capture Jen in 4 wardrobe changes, 10 make-up and hair sessions and a total of 40 minutes of footage.
